1. Introduction
This guidance will help you complete the summer schools claim form. This form follows on from the summer schools expression of interest form and confirmation form.
If you planned to deliver a summer school, but it did not take place, you should complete the relevant information within this form.
Any institution who did not complete form 1 or 2, but who held a summer school should continue to complete this form if they were eligible and have an allocation. However, because the confirmation form was not completed by the end of summer term, funding is not assured or guaranteed. We바카라 사이트檒l confirm whether this funding will be available at a later date.
This form will allow you to claim funding. It will ask you to confirm that your summer school took place in accordance with this guidance and conditions of funding.
You will need to provide information about the pupils who took part, the activities offered and how your summer school was staffed.
You can claim funding for any summer school places you delivered for your school or on behalf of other schools that did not run their own summer school. This guidance document also provides instructions for claiming unrecoverable costs.
Payment will be awarded based on actual costs incurred, up to the value of your maximum allocation.
Where two or more schools collaborated to deliver a summer school, this form should be completed by the lead school.
Funding for summer school places will only be allocated to the lead or delivering school.
These instructions are for:
- mainstream academies and maintained schools with secondary age pupils
- alternative provision academies with secondary age pupils
- pupil referral units with secondary age pupils
- special academies and special maintained schools with secondary age pupils
This guidance is also for providers with alternative provision pupils whose education was funded by the local authority outside of state place funded schools, including:
- non-maintained special schools with secondary age pupils
- independent special schools with secondary age pupils placed there by local authorities
The form can only be submitted by eligible schools with a an allocation.

2. When to claim
The deadline to complete the summer schools claim form is 23:59 on 1 October 2021.
3. Accessing the claim form
Access the to claim funding for your summer school as part of the 2021 summer school programme.
3.1 Before you start
Before you start the claim form process, please ensure that you:
- read the accompanying published guidance
- have a
- are an eligible institution
- have the name, address, and 6-digit Unique Reference Number (URN) of any other schools you delivered a summer school for
- you can find URNs on
- have the number of places you delivered
- this will include the different number of pupils invited on each day of your summer school
- information regarding pupils who were invited and attended
- the activities offered
- how your summer school was staffed and when it took place
- any additional costs incurred from running the summer school and any costs you received from parents or carers
3.2 Accessing the form:
Log in to your DfE Sign-in account:
- Access the .
- Log in to using your account information (username and password).
- Choose the organisation for which you are completing the form.
- The next page will display the details we hold about the organisation you selected when you logged in. This will show the name, address, and URN or UK Provider Reference Number (UKPRN) of the organisation, as well as the name and email address of the person who logged in via DfE Sign-in.
- If these details are correct, select 바카라 사이트楥ontinue바카라 사이트� to move to the next page.
- If you believe they바카라 사이트檙e incorrect then please complete the .
- Complete the form as instructed in the following sections.
- School level journey only: to access the form for another organisation, sign out and follow steps 1 to 4 again.
Your account must be connected to the organisation you바카라 사이트檙e claiming for.
You do not need to add any services in DfE Sign-in. It바카라 사이트檚 used for authentication only and the form will not appear in your list of services.
3.3 If you do not have a DfE Sign-in account
You바카라 사이트檒l need to create one:
- Access .
- Select the 바카라 사이트楥reate account바카라 사이트� button.
- Enter your name and email address (please use your work email address or one that is clearly associated with your organisation).
- We바카라 사이트檒l send you an email to verify your email address. Copy the code from this email and paste it into the box on the verification page.
- Create a memorable password of 12 characters or more (we recommend joining 3 or more familiar words).
- Sign in using your new credentials and request access to the organisation for which you바카라 사이트檇 like to submit a claim.
Once your request to access an organisation has been approved, you can follow the steps outlined in accessing the form to complete the form.
You might have noticed the term 바카라 사이트榓pprover바카라 사이트� when creating your account. An approver is someone at your organisation responsible for controlling who has access to DfE Sign-in and the services within the system. It바카라 사이트檚 usually a senior person, such as an administrator or manager.
For security reasons you바카라 사이트檒l need the approval of one of your organisation바카라 사이트檚 approvers before you can access the form.
3.4 If you need further assistance

4. Completing the claim form
There is no save facility on the form so make sure you have all the information ready before starting the confirmation process. If your form is open for an extended period, you may lose any information entered up to that point and will need to log in and re-enter this information again.
The form allows you to claim funding for the summer school you delivered, or for which you incurred unrecoverable costs.
If you provided places for other schools, you should confirm the details of those schools.
You can view the maximum funding available for each eligible secondary school in England or find more information in the summer schools guidance.

5. If you delivered a summer school and did not collaborate with any additional schools
5.1 Your details
This page will display the details we hold about the organisation you selected when you logged into DfE Sign-in.
5.2 Your summer school
You바카라 사이트檒l be asked if your summer school took place, and you should answer 바카라 사이트榶es바카라 사이트�.
Next, you바카라 사이트檒l be asked if you delivered a summer school on behalf of another school in addition to your own. This question is not asking about feeder primaries.
If you did not collaborate with another eligible school you should select 바카라 사이트榥o바카라 사이트�.
You바카라 사이트檒l then be taken to the duration page.
5.3 Duration page
You need to provide the total duration, in days, of the summer school.
You바카라 사이트檒l then be asked to provide the dates your summer school took place.
5.4 Places offered and delivered
You바카라 사이트檒l be presented with a table and will be asked to enter how many pupils in each incoming year group, for the academic year 2021 to 2022, you invited to attend your summer school.
You should enter the total number invited, regardless of whether those pupils attended or not.
You should enter 바카라 사이트�0바카라 사이트� if no pupils were invited for an academic year group.

5.5 Pupil numbers

If you바카라 사이트檙e a mainstream school with a special unit, you바카라 사이트檒l need to confirm the number of pupils in mainstream education and the number of pupils who attract the special educational needs (SEN) and alternative provision (AP) uplift.
For all other institutions you바카라 사이트檒l only need to enter the total number of pupils who attended on each day.

5.6 Costs incurred

Then you바카라 사이트檒l be asked if you received any funding from parents and carers for any element of the summer school.
If you answer 바카라 사이트榶es바카라 사이트�, you바카라 사이트檒l be asked to provide:
- the total amount of funding you received from parents and carers, in pounds
- from which group(s) of pupils you received funding, if not all (eg pupils not eligible for pupil premium)
- what elements of your summer school have you received funding for (eg food, additional activities)
You바카라 사이트檒l be asked if you used any further additional sources of funding to supplement your summer school.
If you answer 바카라 사이트榶es바카라 사이트�, you바카라 사이트檒l need to tell us the amount of additional funding you used in pounds. Then you바카라 사이트檒l be asked what the additional sources of funding you used were. You바카라 사이트檒l be presented with a list, and you should tick all which apply. You should not include any funding received from parents and carers.
Next, you바카라 사이트檒l be asked what is the total amount of Department for Education summer school funding that you are claiming for. You should exclude any aspect of the summer school for which you received funding from parents and carers or from any additional funding sources. You should, however, include any unrecoverable costs.
Additional sources of funding should not exceed or equal the total amount you are claiming for.
Then you바카라 사이트檒l be asked how much of the total cost of your summer school was an unrecoverable cost, if any.
Unrecoverable costs may have been incurred where, for example, a pupil was offered a place but did not attend at very short notice, or where you needed to pay non-refundable deposits for third-party services or equipment. You바카라 사이트檒l be asked to briefly explain what the unrecoverable costs were for.
If you have not incurred unrecoverable costs, you should enter a 바카라 사이트�0바카라 사이트�.
5.7 Your summer school programme
The next page asks you to provide details of your summer school programme.
You바카라 사이트檒l be presented with a list of activities and you should tick all that apply to your summer school:
- transitional activities (such as meeting teachers or a tour of the school)
- additional subject support (such as English and maths)
- sports-based activities, such as team games
- arts-based activities, such as drama and visiting the theatre
- wellbeing-based activities (such as team building or 바카라 사이트榞etting to know you바카라 사이트� exercises)
- trips
- other enrichment or pastoral activities
If you select 바카라 사이트榦ther바카라 사이트� you바카라 사이트檒l need to briefly explain what other enrichment or pastoral activities, you provided.
Then you바카라 사이트檒l be asked how you staffed your summer school and asked to tick all that apply from the following list:
- qualified teaching staff from your school
- qualified teaching staff from elsewhere, such as an agency or another school
- teaching assistants from your school
- teaching assistants from elsewhere, such as an agency or another school
- support staff, for example pastoral or SEND support staff
- administrative, site or catering staff
- external providers
- parents and carers of pupils
- other volunteers, such as mature students
- other
If you select 바카라 사이트榦ther바카라 사이트� you바카라 사이트檒l need to explain what other ways you staffed your summer school.
In accordance with the conditions of funding, you바카라 사이트檒l need to provide the website address where, by the end of October 2021, you바카라 사이트檒l publish brief details about your summer school, including the amount of summer school funding received and a high-level breakdown of how it was spent.
You should enter the website address in the text box. You can copy and paste this from the address bar on your webpage.바카라 사이트疘t can either be a new or standalone webpage.
5.8 Feedback for the department
You바카라 사이트檒l be asked 바카라 사이트渨hat, if anything, could DfE have done differently to improve the summer school바카라 사이트檚 policy or support for the programme?바카라 사이트�. You should use the text box to input your answer.
Then you바카라 사이트檒l be asked if your school would have delivered a summer school for pupils without funding from the department바카라 사이트檚 summer schools programme.
We also ask, 바카라 사이트渋n future would you deliver a summer school using existing school funding sources?바카라 사이트�, for example pupil premium. Your response to this question will not impact your claim.
You바카라 사이트檙e then asked to confirm if in previous years, did your school have existing transition support in place for pupils joining your school (eg opportunities for pupils to build relationships with their peers and teachers and familiarise themselves with their new school environment and activities designed to support pupils in their transition to the next phase of education). If you answer 바카라 사이트榶es바카라 사이트�, you바카라 사이트檒l need to briefly outline the transitional support in place for pupils moving into year 7.

5.9 Check your answers

Pupil summary
You바카라 사이트檒l be presented with the information you entered. Please check your answers before submitting your claim form. If you바카라 사이트檇 like to change any answers, use the 바카라 사이트榗hange바카라 사이트� links provided.
5.10 Declarations
We바카라 사이트檒l then ask you to make a declaration to confirm:
- the summer school was delivered in accordance with the guidance and conditions of funding for schools and local authorities
- the funding was used for the purpose for which it was provided, according to the conditions of funding
- that a blend of academic and enrichment activity was provided
- that the following evidence has been retained and will be provided in the event of a compliance spot check or audit:
- daily attendance registers and reasons for non-attendance
- receipted records of summer school costs including any unrecoverable costs
- you바카라 사이트檒l publish a statement by the end of October 2021 which provides brief details about our summer school, including the amount of funding received and a breakdown of how it was spent
- that you have the authority to make this submission on behalf of my school and that all the information provided is accurate to the best of my knowledge

5.11 Confirmation
The final page confirms you have submitted a claim for the 2021 summer school programme you delivered and will give you a unique reference number for your submission.
You바카라 사이트檒l receive an email which includes your claim reference, a PDF of your submission and details of what happens next.
5.12 Amending your submission
If you have submitted a form already you cannot amend it online. However, you can submit another form; we will take details from that and disregard previous versions submitted.
6. If you delivered a summer school on behalf of another school in addition to your own
6.1 Your details
This page will display the details we hold about the organisation you selected when you logged into DfE Sign-in.
6.2 Your summer school
You바카라 사이트檒l be asked if your summer school took place.
Once you answer yes you will be asked if you delivered a summer school on behalf of another school in addition to your own. You should only select 바카라 사이트榶es바카라 사이트� if you delivered a summer school on behalf of another eligible school. This question is not asking about feeder primaries.
Next, you바카라 사이트檒l be taken to the collaboration details page.
6.3 Collaboration details
If you did not previously confirm you바카라 사이트檇 be hosting a summer school in collaboration with other schools a warning message will be displayed. This will advise you that as this additional funding was not requested via the 바카라 사이트榗onfirm your arrangements for your summer schools form바카라 사이트�, funding is not assured. You should continue to complete the form, and this will be reviewed.
If you completed collaboration details in your 바카라 사이트榗onfirm your arrangements for your summer schools form바카라 사이트� submission, the name and unique reference numbers (URN) of schools you were collaborating with will be displayed on the screen. You should check this information is correct.
You바카라 사이트檒l be asked to confirm if the collaboration details displayed on screen are correct. If correct you should select 바카라 사이트榶es바카라 사이트� and you바카라 사이트檒l progress to the duration page. If they are not correct you should select 바카라 사이트榥o바카라 사이트�.

6.8 Your summer school programme
The next page asks you to provide details of your summer school programme.
You바카라 사이트檒l be presented with a list of activities, and you should tick all that apply to your summer school:
- transitional activities (such as meeting teachers or a tour of the school)
- additional subject support (such as English and maths)
- sports-based activities, such as team games
- arts-based activities, such as drama and visiting the theatre

- other enrichment or pastoral activities

Then in accordance with the conditions of funding, you will be asked to provide the website address where, by the end of October 2021, you바카라 사이트檒l publish brief details about your summer school, including the amount of summer school funding received and a high-level breakdown of how it was spent.
You should enter the website address in the text box. You can copy and paste this from the address bar on your webpage.바카라 사이트疘t can either be a new or standalone webpage.
6.9 Feedback for the department
Next, you바카라 사이트檒l be asked 바카라 사이트渨hat, if anything, could DfE have done differently to improve the summer school바카라 사이트檚 policy or support for the programme?바카라 사이트�. You should use the text box to input your answer.
Then you바카라 사이트檒l be asked if your school would have delivered a summer school for pupils without funding from the department바카라 사이트檚 summer schools programme.
We also ask if in future, you would deliver a summer school using existing school funding sources, for example pupil premium. Your response to this question will not affect your claim.
You are then asked to confirm if in previous years, did your school have existing transition support in place for pupils joining your school (for example, opportunities for pupils to build relationships with their peers and teachers and familiarise themselves with their new school environment and activities designed to support pupils in their transition to the next phase of education). 6.11 Declarations
We바카라 사이트檒l then ask you to make a declaration to confirm:
- the summer school was delivered in accordance with the guidance and conditions of funding for schools and local authorities
- the funding was used for the purpose for which it was provided, according to the conditions of funding
- that a blend of academic and enrichment activity was provided
- that the following evidence has been retained and will be provided in the event of a compliance spot check or audit:
- daily attendance registers and reasons for non-attendance
- receipted records of summer school costs including any unrecoverable costs
- you바카라 사이트檒l publish a statement by the end of October 2021 which provides brief details about our summer school, including the amount of funding received and a breakdown of how it was spent
- that you have the authority to make this submission on behalf of my school and that all the information provided is accurate to the best of my knowledge

6.12 Confirmation
The final page confirms you have submitted a claim for the 2021 summer school programme you delivered and will give you a unique reference number for your submission.

6.13 Amending your submission
If you have submitted a form already you cannot amend it online. However, you can submit another form; we will take details from that and disregard previous versions submitted.

7.1 Your details

7.2 Your summer school

You바카라 사이트檒l also be asked if you incurred any unrecoverable costs whilst planning your summer school. Unrecoverable costs include, for example, where a pupil has been invited but did not attend at very short notice, or where you needed to pay non-refundable deposits for third-party services, equipment etc.
If you didn바카라 사이트檛 incur any costs, you바카라 사이트檒l be asked to complete a declaration.
If you did incur costs, you바카라 사이트檒l need to enter the amount of these costs and briefly explain what the unrecoverable costs were for.
If the unrecoverable costs you claim are over the maximum funding allocation, then a warning message will be displayed to remind you that assured funding is up to your maximum allocation so any additional funding claimed is not assured and will be reviewed.
