Change of High Commissioner to Mauritius

Mr Jonathan Drew MBE has been appointed British High Commissioner to Mauritius.

He will succeed Mr Nicholas Leake, who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment. Mr Drew will take up his appointment during August 2014.

Mr Drew joined the FCO in 1993 and has served in a number of overseas positions, including as Deputy British Representative to East Timor, Deputy High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea and Head of the Political Military Team at the British Embassy in Kabul. In London he has been Head of the West Africa Section and most recently Deputy Head of Africa Department, dealing with, at various times, East, West, Central and Southern Africa.

On his appointment as British High Commissioner to Mauritius, Mr Drew has said:

I am both delighted and honoured to have been appointed as High Commissioner to Mauritius. I look forward to building on the close British Mauritian relationship and focusing on increasing our already strong trade and investment ties.
