What happens at the standards check

A Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) examiner will watch you giving a to one of your pupils for about 45 minutes.

At the start of the lesson, discuss the goals for the lesson and risk management with your pupil. This should take no more than 3 minutes.

Your pupil must drive for about 40 minutes of the lesson.

You cannot spend the whole lesson teaching a manoeuvre, but you can include a short recap of one you바카라 사이트™ve taught in a previous lesson.

If you need to give your pupil immediate feedback, you are allowed to stop safely during the lesson.

At the end of the lesson, you should give your pupil about 3 minutes to reflect on their performance.

The examiner will look for evidence that you meet the national standards for driver and rider training.

What you바카라 사이트™ll be marked on

You바카라 사이트™ll be marked on 17 areas of competence that are grouped into 3 categories:

  • lesson planning
  • risk management
  • teaching and learning skills

The 17 areas of competence are listed in the ADI standards check report form, which the examiner will fill in during your check.

You바카라 사이트™ll get a score from 0 to 3 for each of the 17 competencies, which are added up to work out your grade.

After you give the lesson, the examiner will discuss your performance and give you your grade. This will take about 15 minutes.

You can take your trainer or mentor with you, but they cannot take part in the lesson.

    You must get a new Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to start your application, even if you already have one.

  3. Step 3 Get a trainer

    Get a registered trainer to help you prepare for the 3 qualifying tests.

  4. Step 4 Take the theory test (ADI part 1)

    Once you've passed the theory test, you must pass the other parts of the test within 2 years or you'll have to start the whole process again.

  6. Step 6 Get practice teaching

    If you바카라 사이트™ve passed ADI part 2 you have the option to apply for a 6 month trainee licence to get experience teaching students.

  8. Step 8 Register and start working as an instructor

    Once you've passed the tests you must register within 12 months.

    When you have your certificate you can start charging for lessons. You can either:
