Abstract

DFID is considering a new programme on climate information and services in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), building on existing initiatives and a providing a step change in the use of climate information to support poverty reduction and promote socio-economic development.

As part of the scoping for the design of the Climate and Information Services for Africa programme (CIASA), this report provides a short literature review on user needs, gaps and potential intervention options. It adopts the structure of the Global Framework for Climate Services (GFCS) with individual sections on 바카라 사이트˜Users바카라 사이트™, 바카라 사이트˜User Interface Platforms (UIPs)바카라 사이트™, 바카라 사이트˜Climate Services Information Systems바카라 사이트™, 바카라 사이트˜Observations and Monitoring바카라 사이트™, 바카라 사이트˜Research, Modelling and Prediction바카라 사이트™ and 바카라 사이트˜Capacity Development바카라 사이트™. The review identified a number of gaps in climate services, which were then considered alongside other evidence in a synthesis report and for the design of intervention options.

CIASA has been renamed WISER - Weather and Climate Information Services for Africa.

This report has been produced by the Met Office for Evidence on Demand with the assistance of the UK Department for International Development (DFID) contracted through the Climate, Environment, Infrastructure and Livelihoods Professional Evidence and Applied Knowledge Services (CEIL PEAKS) programme, jointly managed by DAI (which incorporates HTSPE Limited) and IMC Worldwide Limited.
