Next Generation Kenya

A year-long study into the hopes, aspirations, ambitions, and concerns of Kenyan youth

Abstract

This report is the final output of a year-long study into the hopes, aspirations, ambitions, and concerns of Kenyan youth. The final report synthesises findings from 3 independent research phases comprising a systematic review of academic literature, a qualitative study involving focus group discussions, workshops, and in-depth interviews, and a nationally representative household survey of over 4,000 young Kenyans from each of Kenya바카라 사이트™s 47 counties.

The report finds that while young Kenyans love and have a strong sense of pride in their country, they blame corruption and a 바카라 사이트˜rigged system바카라 사이트™ for high unemployment rates, a lack of opportunities, growing social inequality, and an education system that is falling short.

This research was supported by the UK Department for International Development바카라 사이트™s Strengthening Research Systems for Poverty Reduction in East Africa programme.
