PackUK governance

A governance framework for PackUK has been developed to oversee the mobilisation and operations of all PackUK activities. This governance structure includes a Four Nations Ministerial Steering Board, an Executive Committee and an advisory Audit and Risk Assurance Committee. Further details of the full governance structure will be shared in due course.

Call for industry experts to join key PackUK advisory groups

PackUK, the newly appointed administrator for the pEPR scheme, is committed to working with experts from across the packaging value chain to guide it in its work.   

This close working relationship will be supported by expert advice from the following four advisory boards:

  • Scheme Administrator Steering Group

  • Recyclability Assessment Methodology Technical Advisory Committee  

  • Effectiveness & Efficiency Technical Advisory Committee

  • Communications and Behaviour Change Advisory Group

The recommendations from these groups will play a central role in guiding PackUK as it grows and develops.   

These four voluntary advisory groups will provide expert advice and recommendations to the PackUK leadership team. The groups will not be decision-making, but a trusted source of knowledge and experience comprising members who will have a wealth of operational and policy expertise from a variety of both public and private sector organisations.   

The voluntary Scheme Administrator Steering Group (SASG) brings together representatives of the four UK nation governments, local authorities, and sectors directly affected by the Extended Producer Responsibility for packaging (pEPR) Scheme. Meeting monthly, SASG make recommendations to inform the operational design, implementation, and strategic direction of PackUK including governance.
