Over £17 million to regenerate Leek Town Centre (Levelling Up Fund 2)
Levelling Up funding has been allocated to Staffordshire Moorlands District Council to regenerate Leek Town Centre.
The funding will support three projects that support the Council바카라 사이트™s vision to revive the local economy and make it a better place for residents, communities and businesses.Â
Upgraded market hallsÂ
The towns Victorian market halls will be refurbished for business and community use.
 Â
The improvements include:Â
- installation of 3 food and beverage lock-up units in the Trestle Market HallÂ
- restoring the Victorian character of shop frontages in the Butter Market HallÂ
- installation of Wi-Fi, CCTV, insulation and heatingÂ
- a new separate entrance into the marketsÂ
- replacing 32 tables with lighter weight alternativesÂ
Nicholson InstituteÂ
Levelling Up funding will also improve the public library, museum and exhibition space at the historic Nicholson Institute. This includes:Â
- refurbishing the lower ground floor into a flexible student welfare facilityÂ
- renovating the basement to provide operational space for the libraryÂ
- a new venue for events and weddingsÂ
- increased services in the libraryÂ
- refurbishing the museum Â
Transforming Brough Park Leisure CentreÂ
Funding will also be used to create new swimming facilities as part of the wider leisure centre transformation. Â
Improvements include:Â
- building a new 25 metre 6 lane swimming pool Â
- a new learner pool with moveable floor and refurbished changing rooms Â
- a new health and fitness suiteÂ
- additional studio space to accommodate group exercisesÂ
- an indoor cycling studioÂ
- additional changing facilitiesÂ
