Lewisham revitalised with 拢19 million Levelling Up funding聽(Levelling Up Fund 2)

Over 拢19 million from the Levelling Up Fund will regenerate Lewisham town centre.

Levelling Up funding will support three projects that will provide new jobs, boost the local economy and create a better town centre for local people.聽聽

Revitalising Lewisham Market聽聽

The historic market will be transformed to support local traders and encourage new visitors.聽聽

Improvements to the market include:聽聽

• changing the layout of the market to provide more pitch space for traders, make it more attractive for customers and with better waste facilities.聽
• new environmentally friendly canopies to extend the market outside current trading hours聽
• new paving, lighting and benches around the market to make it a more inviting and inclusive place to meet聽

Levelling Up funding will also support the refurbishment of the iconic Grade II listed Clock Tower.聽

A new culture and business hub at Lewisham Library聽

Lewisham Library will be renovated into a new Culture and Business Hub that includes:聽聽

• more space for books and other library services聽
• Lewisham Lounge, a new community space for exhibitions, attractions and socialising聽
• workspace for local businesses and students聽聽
• a new rooftop bar and ground floor caf茅聽

A better-connected high street聽

Lewisham High Street will become better connected, attractive and safer with:聽聽

• upgrades to current road crossings and the creation of new road crossings improving the area for pedestrians聽
• new trees and green space for people to enjoy聽
• improved entry routes for cyclists聽聽
• a new mobility hub for cyclists and electric vehicles聽
• better lighting and CCTV聽
