拢18 million for seafront and town centre improvements in Cleethorpes聽(Levelling Up Fund 2)
Over 拢18 million from the Levelling Up Fund was awarded to North East Lincolnshire Council to revitalise Cleethorpes seafront and town centre.
The funding will be spent on three schemes that will transform Cleethorpes into a year-round destination.聽聽聽
Rejuvenating Cleethorpes Market Square聽
This existing car park will be removed and replaced with a functioning marketplace. The new Market Square will reconnect the busy seafront with the town centre, with:聽
- 800sqm additional retail space聽
- up to 40 new jobs聽
- a safer, more pleasant environment for pedestrians聽
Extra parking will also be created nearby at Grant Street.聽
Sea Road聽
Levelling Up funding will support the construction of a new landmark building opposite Cleethorpes pier for visitors to enjoy and help extend the tourist season.聽聽
Regeneration of Cleethorpes Pier Gardens聽
The Victorian linear park will be renovated and aim to bring in around 拢18.7m of economic benefits.聽聽
Improvements to the Linear Park include:
- an outdoor leisure space聽
- a series of outdoors rooms to be used for a variety of recreational activities聽聽
- more plants and wildlife to increase biodiversity in the area聽
